As required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), this general price list of the services and merchandise is provided for your ease of understanding the total cost of a funeral. It is your right and our desire to assist you in this process.  Should you have any questions concerning any aspect of our offering, please do not hesitate to let us know.

The good and services shown below are those we can provide our customers.  You may choose only those items you desire.  However, any funeral arrangements you select include a charge for our basic services and overhead.  If legal or other requirements mean you must buy services or items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected.

Understanding Funeral Costs

Budgeting for a funeral can be confusing because it’s not something done very often over the course of a lifetime.  To help make the process more clear, we have broken down the common costs of our services into three parts:

  • Professional Services: The total of this section covers the services provided by the funeral home & staff.
  • Merchandise: This cost includes the price of caskets, vaults, urns, or other merchandise provided by the funeral home.
  • Cash Advances: The cost includes monies distributed by the funeral home to outside persons or organizations for services not provided by the funeral home.  Some examples include obituaries, death certificates, flowers, clergy and cemetery fees.

Our Payment Policy

The death of a loved one is stressful both emotionally and financially.  With that understanding in mind, we have instituted the following payment policy:

  • A 50% down payment of the total funeral price is due at the time of final arrangements.
  • The remaining balance is due within 30 days of services rendered.
  • Accounts still holding a balance after 30 days will be subject to 2% monthly interest.

Service Packages for Burials

Traditional Funeral Service – $4,980.00

This package includes:

Graveside Service – $4,1350.00

This package includes:

  • Local Removal of Remains

  • Basic Services of Funeral Director & Staff
  • Embalming
  • Other Preparation of the Body
  • Hearse & Graveside Service

Direct Burial – $2,345.00

This package includes:

  • Local Removal of Remains
  • Service Utility Vehicle
  • Basic Services of Funeral Director & Staff

Service Packages for Cremations

Traditional Funeral Service – $4,730.00

This package includes:

  • Local Removal of Remains
  • Service Utility Vehicle
  • Basic Services of Funeral Director & Staff
  • Embalming
  • Other Preparation of the Body
  • Funeral Service at our facility or other location & Visitation

Memorial Service – $3,040.00

This package includes:

  • Local Removal of Remains

  • Memorial Services at our facility or other location

Direct Cremation – $2,345.00

This package includes:

  • Local Removal of Remains
  • Service Utility Vehicle
  • Basic Services of Funeral Director & Staff

Itemized Service Fees

The following is an itemized list of service fees for specific tasks available for you to choose.  If you have selected a service package, these fees are included in your service package.

Basic Services of Funeral Director & Staff – $1,800.00

Our fee for the services of funeral director and staff include, but is not limited to:

  • Staff to respond to initial request of service
  • Arrangement conference with family or responsible parties for funeral arrangements.
  • Recording vital statistics, and preparing and filing of necessary authorizations/permits.
  • Preparation and placement of obituary notice.
  • Staff assistance prior to, during, and following the funeral service, including coordination with those providing other portions of the service, i.e., cemetery, crematory, clergy, musicians, veterans, and others.

Also included in these charges are overhead expenses relative to our facility such as insurance, maintenance, utility expense, secretarial and other administrative costs, equipment and inventory costs and taxes.

The fee for basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select.  This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains.

Embalming – $995.00

Embalming is not required by law.  Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements such as a funeral with viewing.  If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require embalming such as direct cremation or immediate burial that does not require you to pay for it.

Other Preparation of the Body – $295.00

This fee included but is not limited to: dressing & casketing of remains, cosmetology, hair care & sanitary preparation.

Service Options

  • Use of Facilities & Staff for Funeral Service – $695.00
  • Use of Facilities & Staff for Memorial Service – $695.00
  • Use of Equipment & Staff for Graveside Funeral Service – $250.00
  • Use of Equipment & Staff for Graveside Cremation Service – $150.00

Visitation

Use of Facilities & Staff For Viewing – $100 / per hour

Our services included visitation set-up, use of visitation room, placement of encased remains, arranging of floral offerings, supervision and attendance during visitation.

Please note: One hour of visitation is included in our fees for Funerals and Memorial Services.

Transportation & Automotive

  • Automotive Equipment – $2.00 / mile (Add $2.00 per loaded mile outside 100-mile local area.)
  • Local Transfer of Remains – $395.00 (Transfer of remains to a funeral home within the local area.)
  • Service Utility Vehicle – $150.00
  • Hearse – $250.00
  • Limousine – $100.00
  • Sedan – $100.00

Additional Service Options

Direct Cremation – $2,345.00 – $3,040.00

Our charges for direct cremation (without ceremonies) includes: basic services of funeral director & staff; a proportionate share of overhead costs; removal of remains; transportation to crematory; necessary authorizations and cremation.

If you wish to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container.  Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard, wood composition materials (with or without an outside covering).  The containers we provide are a basic cardboard container, however other containers may be selected.

  • Direct Cremation with container provided by the purchaser – $2,345.00
  • Direct Cremation with Alternate Container – $2,540.00
  • Direct Cremation with Minimum Casket – $3,040.00
  • Crematory Fee – $250.00

Immediate Burials – $2,345.00 – $3,040.00

Our charges for immediate burial (without ceremonies) includes: basic services of funeral director & staff; a proportionate share of overhead costs; removal of remains; and local transportation to cemetery.

  • Immediate burial with casket provided by the purchaser – $2,345.00
  • Immediate burial with minimum casket – $3,040.00

Forwarding Remains to Another Funeral Home – $3,340.00

Our charge includes: basic services of funeral director & staff; a proportionate share of overhead costs; removal of remains; preparation of remains, including embalming, and local transportation.

Receiving Remains from Another Funeral Home – $2,245.00

Our charge includes: basic services of funeral director & staff; a proportionate share of overhead costs; care of remains; transportation of remains to the funeral home & to the cemetery or crematory.

Merchandise

Caskets – $695.00 to $29,500.00 (A complete list will be provided at the funeral home.)

Outer Burial Containers – $600.00 to $9,900.00 (A complete list will be provided at the funeral home.)

Waters Funeral homes makes no representations about the protective value of certain caskets or outer burial containers. The only warranties, expressed or implied, granted in connection with goods sold with this funeral service are the expressed written warranties, if any, extended by the manufacturers thereof. No other warranties and no warranties of merchandising fitness for a particular purpose are extended by the seller.  Indiana law requires that we inform you that a casket or outer burial container purchased is not air and/or watertight.

Public Aid Service Packages

For those who qualify for public assistance of funeral expenses, we offer the following service packages. These packages do not include any cash advance items such as flowers, death certificates, obituary notices, or clergy honoraria.  All public aid services will be held Monday – Friday before 5:00 P.M.

Township Trustee Assistance

Our services includes: basic services of funeral director & staff; removal from place of death; embalming; necessary permits & authorizations; funeral service with one hour of visitation prior to services; cloth covered cardboard casket or alternative container; & all necessary service vehicles for transportation to cemetery or crematory.

Please note: Families may not contribute funds to upgrade services or merchandise when using assistance from the township trustee.

Medicaid Assistance

Price:  $1,750.00

Our services includes: basic services of funeral director & staff; removal from place of death; embalming; necessary permits & authorizations; funeral or memorial service with one hour of visitation prior to services; cloth covered cardboard casket or alternative container; & all necessary service vehicles for transportation to cemetery or crematory.
